Old Pueblo Stucco and Lath, LLC was contracted for this work.

Stucco on the West Wall

Now that the garage has been re-opened, it's time to get the entire west wall of the house stuccoed.

There are Gila woodpecker holes high up on the wall, but I've filled them with spray-in foam to restore some of the fiberglass insulation the birds pulled out this past year. I think the next step will be to have the bedroom window replaced. That has to be done prior to the stucco work to make sure the windows are placed correctly to account for the extra wall depth. Then the stucco work can commence.

I want to have two inches of foam insulation installed on that wall before the stucco goes on. That insulation will greatly reduce the effects of the summer sun hitting that wall, and will surely help with the cooling and heating bills.

I would like to move the electrical breaker box to the inside of the garage before starting the stucco work, but I think that will be prohibitively expensive. I really don't like having the breaker box on the outside of the garage. I'd much rather have it inside the garage where I'm the only person who can get to it. From what I can determine based on some rough internet searches, though, moving that breaker box will likely add as much as $3,000.00 to the garage work. If that cost is at all accurate, it isn't worth it. Perhaps it can just be "bumped out" so that it stays outside of the stucco, rather than having stucco go around the box. I'll have to see what an electrician has to say.

I'll have to repaint the entire house at some point, but it may be two-colored for a while. The house is currently painted Whole Wheat, with Sturdy Brown trim. (I just noticed, after all these years, that the trim is the exact same color as the shit brown carpet inside the house!) The color of the new garage door is what you see below. I'm thinking I'll paint the house Analytical Gray (SW 7051), which happens to be the same color I'm using in the kitchen. The trim will be Isle of Pines (SW 6461), and my front door will change to Dewberry (SW 6552).

Once the wall's been stuccoed, it will be time to move back inside to start work on the hallway, bathroom, and small bedroom. Once again, that's another project and another page.
